Applications(s) always hang
(too old to reply)

I have two applications that always hang my computer when
performing certain operations.

They have worked fine in the past...

There must be some conflict with a new application install
or a new system driver, etc.

How do I find and resolve the conflict?

BTW - I have re-installed the applications; they still
hang.

I'm running Win98SE, 512M Memory, 1.7MH processor, lots of
disc space...

Thanks for any help.

What are the applications and what are the operations that cause them to
hang?

Hello Jeff:

It shouldn't make much difference, but here goes...

App1 : PaperMaster. Hangs when opening a file cabinet.
App2 : Kedit for Windows. Hangs when performing a command from the command
line.

If the problem is only occurring with these applications then it's likely
that the problem is related to these applications only, and you will have to
follow up the problem with the manufacturer. Likely reasons are that they
aren't completely compatible with this version of Windows (and this will
especially apply to trying to execute from the command line). You could try
re-posting using the application name to see if you can attract the
attention of someone who is familiar with that application (I don't
recognise either of them), or see whether the manufacturer provides a
support site or forum where you could ask this question.

If what you have posted is just a sample, and if the other applications
include common Windows utilities (where operating system version obviously
cannot be relevant) then the problem may be hardware related, such as faulty
RAM or CPU overheating, or intermittent disk errors.
